Criminal Investigation (CID)
Criminal Investigations Division
The Criminal Investigations Division is principally charged with the investigation of criminal activity that cannot be resolved through the Sheriff's Patrol Division's preliminary investigation. CID strives to build trust and engage with our community, provide support to victims of crime, and hold offenders accountable for their actions.
Investigators assigned to CID collect and preserve evidence, interview complainants and witnesses, and ensure other investigative approaches are conducted or considered, such as photographs, drawings, and records research. Evidence is collected, interviews and statements are completed, and the report is assembled. The final criminal case is submitted to the Ralls County Prosecuting Attorney's Office for review and prosecution.
CID also investigates cold case files and past unsolved crimes. Anyone with information on any criminal activity or tips that may assist with these investigations is encouraged to contact Lt. Davis by phone or email. You may also contact us anonymously by clicking on the Submit Crime Tip link.
